  1. Notch Sells to Microsoft

    January 5, 2015 by Chris

It must have been a lot of stress for Notch, being responsible for a game everyone loves – just because he created it.

Now that he has sold Mojang to Microsoft and become a billionaire, what will he do? He says he is fine if it turns out Minecraft was his best work. He expects never to beat it.

Notch has love and a habit of making games. That’s what we should expect him to keep doing. Watch for his entries into the Ludlum Dare game making competition. They are always fun and creative.

It hasn’t been long since Microsoft bought Mojang, the Minecraft company, for 2.5 billion dollars. The first obvious effect we’ve seen is that Minecraft will become available for Windows Phone – not that anybody has a windows phone, but it’s good to know if anyone does get a windows phone they can play Minecraft pocket edition on it.

    Jeb confirmed this on Twitter

Yes, Minecraft: Pocket Edition *is* coming to the Windows Phone! The port runs already, but there’s still much to do before any release

Poor Notch. He felt so stressed out with the responsibility of running a company that everybody is always watching. He hopes that he will be able to get on with his life now that Microsoft will be making those decisions without him.

    What do you think?

  3. Notch Cancels Oculus Rift for Minecraft because of Facebook

    March 25, 2014 by Chris

Minecraft’s inventor, our beloved Notch, does not like Facebook. So what? Lots of people are “creeped out” by Facebook.13769247725158fwm87low29_1380485159797

Well, it sounded awesome that Minecraft was talking to Oculus Rift with the idea of adding Virtual Reality gaming hardware support to Minecraft but unfortunately that deal is now over.

It turns out Facebook has just recently announced it bought the Oculus Rift company for $2 billion. Facebook has been buying all sorts of things for billions recently. It started with Instagram, then What’s App, now Oculus Rift. What is Mark Zuckerberg planning over there?

We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out.

Kotaku was good enough to point out there is a Minecraft mod that can support Oculus Rift unofficially if you’re lucky enough to have one of the cool headsets.

  4. Video: Notch throws Minecraft Party for Minecon 2012

    November 4, 2012 by Chris

Minecon is an official Minecraft convention held in Paris, France. It’s actually being held at Disneyland Paris! What could be cooler than going to Minecon in the world’s most romantic city? Well maybe going to the party afterwards with Notch and Skrillex!

Yes that’s right. According to the video invite/teaser tweeted by Notch, dubstep superhero Skrillex will be at the party, no doubt pumping out his huge sound…  wub wubs and wow wows.

When you’re Notch you can throw a party like this:

There’s no secret, Notch likes Skrillex, and it’s suspected that Skrillex plays Minecraft (or at least he should). We do know Skrillex follows Notch on Twitter.

  5. Minecraft Lego

    September 11, 2012 by Chris

For Minecraft fans, this has got to be a match made in heaven. Minecraft is already enough like playing with Lego that it obviously appeals to the same kinds of minds. Many people have been awaiting this since it’s first announcement. Well you may be interested to know the official release of Minecraft-themed Lego is available to buy.

Here’s the Legendary Minecraft Hero himself, Notch, creator of Minecraft playing with Minecraft Lego:

Note that this Lego is the new mini type. So it may not be suitable for birthday presents for little kids. According to the box, the recommended age range is 10+, so that makes it easier than the famous Lego Architecture mini Lego kits which typically specify 12+.
